Turkesterone
Ecdysteroid from plants such as Ajuga turkestanica, sold as a muscle-building product.
What the research shows
No sound research in humans.
Almost nothing has been studied in humans. The only controlled study, in eleven men after a single intake, found no effect on IGF-1 or resting metabolism and did not measure muscle growth at all. The review by Todorova (2024) describes almost entirely animal and cell research.
Who it makes sense for: Nobody: there is no human study demonstrating muscle growth or strength gains.
