Myprotein vs Bulk: Price Per Gram Comparison 2026

Myprotein vs Bulk. Two of the biggest supplement brands in the UK. Both offer budget-friendly whey protein, both run constant sales. But which one actually gives you more protein for your pound?

We did the maths.

The numbers (March 2026, UK prices)

ProductPriceWeightProtein/100g£ per g protein
Bulk Pure Whey£51.832500g73g£0.028
Myprotein Impact Whey£61.492500g73g£0.034
Bulk Hero Whey£59.992275g79g£0.033
Bulk Pure Whey Isolate 90£89.992500g88g£0.041
Myprotein Impact Isolate£110.992500g82g£0.054

Bulk wins. Their Pure Whey comes in at £0.028 per gram of protein — that's 21% cheaper than Myprotein's Impact Whey.

Hold on — what about sales?

Fair point. Both brands run sales constantly. Myprotein is famous for their "40% off" emails that hit your inbox weekly. Bulk does similar.

But here's the thing: we compared current prices. When both are on sale, the gap usually stays similar. Bulk tends to be the budget king.

Quality comparison

Both use similar whey concentrate. Protein percentages are nearly identical (73% vs 73%). The amino acid profiles? Practically the same — they're both whey protein.

Where they differ:

  • Flavours: Myprotein has 50+ options. Bulk has fewer but focuses on getting them right.
  • Texture: Bulk mixes slightly thicker. Some love it, some don't.
  • Sweetness: Myprotein tends to be sweeter. Bulk is more subtle.

What does science say?

A meta-analysis by Morton et al. (2018) found that 1.6-2.2g protein per kg bodyweight maximises muscle protein synthesis. The source of that protein? Doesn't matter much as long as it's complete protein (which both are).

Translation: your muscles can't tell if you're drinking Bulk or Myprotein.

Isolate comparison

If you're lactose sensitive or want higher purity, isolates are worth considering. Here, the gap widens:

  • Bulk Pure Whey Isolate 90: £0.041 per gram protein
  • Myprotein Impact Isolate: £0.054 per gram protein

That's a 32% premium for Myprotein's isolate. Hard to justify unless you really prefer the taste.

The verdict

Choose Bulk if:

  • Budget is priority
  • You prefer less sweet protein
  • You want isolate without the premium price

Choose Myprotein if:

  • Flavour variety matters to you
  • You prefer sweeter shakes
  • You're already in their rewards program

Bottom line

Bulk is cheaper. Period. At £0.028 vs £0.034 per gram, you save roughly £15 on a 2.5kg bag. Over a year of protein? That adds up.

But both will build muscle just fine. Pick the one you'll actually drink.
