NMN (nicotinamide mononucleotide)

Precursor of NAD, sold as an anti-ageing product.

What the research shows

No sound research in humans.

Chen (2024) pooled 8 trials with 342 mostly healthy adults and found no effect on fasting glucose, insulin, HbA1c or blood lipids. Yi (2023) mainly measured the blood NAD concentration in 80 participants, a surrogate marker, in a study with authors from the NMN producer. Wang (2025) saw small differences in walking speed and liver values across 9 studies with 412 participants.

Who it makes sense for: Nobody demonstrably: the outcomes measured are lab values without any demonstrated health gain.
